My newest favourite hobby is tracking the growth the Hayden's RESP that we opened last year. Registered Education Savings Plans are really one of the best tax sheltered vehicles that can be used to help save for a child's college education. The best part is that the government provides a grant of 20% on the first $2500 of your contributions. If we just took the $100 UCCB the government puts into our account every month (because we have Hayden) and included the 20% grant with a conservative return of 2% Hayden would have over $11,000 for his college tuition by the time he is 18 and it wouldn't have cost us anything out of pocket. I am curious to see what tuition costs will be when he attends university. Everything might be online and free by that time lol :)?
