Good Start...

Got all of my marks back from my summer courses and I would call it a big success so far. I have narrowed down the job search and have a pretty good plan of attack mostly thanks to:
Dont' Send Resume By Jeffrey Fox

The good news is I have an offer from a firm and haven't technically sent any resumes out yet so that is good but it is not the perfect fit so we'll see.

I also am starting to finally settle into the self employed lifestyle, which I'm just starting to appreciate more now that I don't have the distraction of classwork for the next 2 months. I resigned from FHC mainly because I felt "creatively opressed". The break in Hamilton and seeing my folks was amazing . Most inspiring though was seeing my brother at his office in Toronto, working for himself and being successful at doing what he loves.

For me the last two days have been productive and more importantly I love what I'm doing.

Tennis to Introduce Instant Replay

The "Hawk" will go into effect this weekend in Indiannapolis and the US Open will be the frst Grand Slam to include the technology.

Players will have 2 challenges per set and like in football they will not be charged a challenge if the call is overuled.

I think bad line calls are just a part of tennis and it is a good test of the mental strength of a player if they can overcome it.

Home For A Rest

Decided to head home for a visit with the family this week. So far has been a lot of fun. I got off the train and went straight to a golf tournament. I probably shot my best round of golf ever...so I was excited about that. And coincidently the Ticats won their first game of the season

My dad and I went for a bike ride Sunday and I'm helping with the weeding at the house. There is something about working with a garden or grass or earth that is very exciting for me.

So I'm home because I'm having a little writer's block and thought I'd try to refresh. I was also feeling a little home sick and I don't get to see my family that often.

I have to get some of that Steeltown girl back into me.

10 Things That Made The World Cup Awesome

10. The announcers commentary: "Now they're attacking with menace"

9. The names that just roll beautifully off the tongue: From Kaka to Yaya

8. Craig, Larry, Vic and Dick and the HDTV Gods

7. That a Canadian was part of the officiating crew

6. That the right team won. Italy was in the toughest group to begin with they won it letting in only one goal. Their two play-off games were pretty easy but the Germany semi made up for that. I also would easily have 4 of their players in my starting XI. (Buffon, Cannavaro, Pirlo and Zambrotta)

5. The trading of shirts at the end of the game. (tee hee...girlish giggle)

4. Ghana, Ghana, Ghana!!!

3. The subtleness of brilliant players. Pirlo (Italy), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany) are examples of tremendously gifted players who were overshadowed by their more famous teammates.

2. The goals that came from outside of the box. (Rosicky, Frings, Cole...sweeet)

1. The Beautiful Game

10 Things That Sucked About the World Cup

10. Two cumulative yellow cards per round put you out for the next game. They should make it three. The Ghana vs Brazil game was ruined because Essien could not play.

9. The Draw: Ukraine, Togo, Suadi Arabia and Spain vs NED, ARG, Cote and S&M

8. That a very talented Spanish team once again felt the wrath of the soccer gods and were dismissed prematurely.

7. Trying to watch a game later at night on a replay without learning the score beforehand.

6. Christiano Ronaldo

5. Italy's "Celebration". When you win the big one...act like you've been there before. (ie: keep your pants on and your captain lifts the trophy first.)

4. Budweiser as a title sponsor (it's supposed to be heineken...it has always been heineken)

3. The diving: they weren't even good dives.

2. That guy who reffed the NED-POR game.

1. Lionel Messi and Ruud Van Nistleroy sat on the bench as both of their teams were eliminated from the world cup. (both teams in desperate need of a goal)

Funnies From Today

Days of our Lives ;

(background: Max likes Chelsea, Chelsea likes Max but wants to play the field, Max has just met Stephanie, Chelsea and Abby have just learned Stephanie's identity")

Chelsea: "Yes that makes Stephanie Max's Niece"

Abby: "Yeah but not by blood and technically you're Max's niece too"

Chelsea: "This whole town is incestuous"

World Cup:

Holland supplied the turf for the World Cup pitches. Leave it to the Dutch to supply the "grass"!

Italy vs France

The final has been set. I kind of want to spend Sunday watching the match in little Italy. I think that would be a really cool experience. The Prescott may have enough room???

I kind of feel bad for Portugal though..... NOT!!!!!!! Good riddance

Should be a fun final!
