How To Get Uninvited From A Shower

So I was a little late in RSVPing to a shower invite and the invite did go to the wrong address but I don't think that warrants being berated because of the possibility that I can't make due to a prior committment.
Anyways I like to think of myself as a kind person...and it makes it especially hard when people send me nasty emails.
