Sour Cream Rant
Thursday, March 31, 2005
Well I've run into this problem before, so I'm not too sure why I as hoping it would be magically solved by now.
I just want the small (250 ml) size non-fat sour cream.
Apparently you can only buy 14% sour cream now in the small size. I don't need 500ml of sour cream.
It is going to go to waste and milk products always happen to be the most digusting when they start to rot.

Adidas Puts Computer Chip in Shoe
Wednesday, March 30, 2005
Adidas has decided it's a good idea to put a computer chip in a shoe. Known as the Adidas One this little puppy has a built in microprocesser capable of 5,000,000 calculations per second. It is supposed to adapt based on the amount of cushioning you need in whatever your environment you happen to be in.
Claims to be the world's first intelligent shoe. Impossible is nothing....

Entrepreneur vs Government Worker
Tuesday, March 29, 2005
One would assume being an entrepreneur would be a lot more fun than my little desk job, but now I'm not so sure.
As I've learned from the Travel Agency, it's a lot of work, responsibility and lot of hours to run a business. It means working evenings and weekends.
And the pay scale is so unbalanced. Work a lot make a little, work a little make a lot. It is random, unstructured and uncertain.
Entrepreneurship is definitely not for the lazy.
I know in future businesses I own, they will be more like investments in real estate and ideas. Nothing as hands on as the travel agency, we have our hands full with that and we haven't spent a penny on advertising. It's a great learning experience running your own business hands-on, I wouldn't trade it for anything...but next time...I'll invest differently.
I think I like being the local neighbourhhod travel resource for our friends and family. Nothing more, nothing less. The referrals will come through word of mouth.
What is most interesting is that it wasn't hard finding clients, the hard part was/is servicing them properly and professionally. This is what takes the most time and effort out of our day.

Easter Fun
Monday, March 28, 2005
Well had some visitors this weekend and I was excited to have some time off to work on some side projects.
Was able to get the parents hooked on "24", which was my good deed for the weekend.
I'm pretty excited about the projects we have on the go. I've even invented some new traffic generating techniques.
Hopefully we can schedule a Fundsport meeting for this weekend and get the ball rolling.

Another Annoyance I Have With Cell Phones
Wednesday, March 23, 2005
Well I'm not sure whether to call it an annoyance or an odd feeling. It is when people use those hands-free sets while they talk on their cell phones in public. And the weird part is when you can't see the hands-free device and it looks like the person is talking to themself.
I guess what is most odd is that there are people you see in public who you can tell should be talking to themself because of their appearance. There's nothing all that shocking about a crazy looking person talking to themself.
What frightens me is when I see someone in public who seems to be well dressed, clean cut, well spoken and it looks like they are having a perfectly engaging conversation with...themself, It's oddly frightening because I can't tell that they are actually on the phone.

Cafe Press: One of the Coolest Sites Around
Friday, March 18, 2005
I noticed a few people mentioning this site, so I wanted to see what all the hype was about.
What a very cool concept! They take your business logo, you pick which items you want your logo on to sell and then they set up an online store for you to sell the items in. You set the price, they take a little off the top. They process and ship all of the transactions.
Imagine having your own little store with your logoed items for sale, with no inventory, no risk, and no real effort on your part.
You can also self-publish your own books, cds and software.
I love it 5 stars. http://www.cafepress.com

Ipod Shuffle Rip-Off
Thursday, March 17, 2005
This kind of funny...A Taiwanese company Luxpro has completely ripped off the ipod shuffle, everything from the marketing ads, to the design, to the battery indicator light.
"Made from the same white plastic and featuring the same control pad as the iPod shuffle, the Super shuffle is also the exact length (3.3") and width (0.99") as the iPod shuffle. The flash memory-based Super shuffle is a little thicker (0.38") than the iPod shuffle (0.33"), but offers an FM tuner and voice recorder, which the Apple device lacks. " ipod lounge

Are Gas Prices Really That Bad? (Speaking relatively)
Saw a neat little report on Global news last night. It was comparing the price of gas per litre to other things we don't really consider their cost per litre. For example bottled water costs much more per litre than gas.
I thought it was an interesting comparison. The main argument is that gas on one hand is an essential item....which is funny when comparing it with water (which is what one would assume to be pretty essential). They also compared "oil rich" countries (lots of oil = lots of money) to "water poor" countries (lots of water but not a lot of money) such as Canada (that was funny).
The only thing I didn't like was when they started to compare the cost per litre for a Starbucks latte.
And another thing, there is more fat in a carrot muffin than a quarter pounder...what is that about?

Software Gurus
Hey looks like I have some software gurus to help with my newsletter software. I can hopefully add a little meat to my new idea. I think we are meeting this weekend to go over some ideas. Think of all the applications (not for profits, travel agents, spas, financial planners)

Lobster fest
Tuesday, March 15, 2005
We we had a bit of a feast last Friday night as dinner night had been delayed for a little bit. We devoured a meal of Lobster, Crab and Shrimp. Wowsa, once it hits your lips its just sooooo goood. I love dinner night, what a great concept, and my little hubby is apprarently quite skilled in the art of cracking shellfish.
so sweet sleeping there,
lost under the covers, is his furry hair,
fighting to awake, dawn is near
another day for my kiki bear

Finding Anomalies
Monday, March 14, 2005
Another key tip in making lots of money with the internet. Finding anomalies is when you find search terms that have a lot of searches and not much competition. Now you can target those keywords (either through SEO or PPC) and make lots of money with affiliate programs or your own product.

Back from Cruising
Thursday, March 10, 2005
Andrew and I had the unique opportunity to participate in the ASTA young professionals society seminar-at-sea. It was a great learning experience for us., and hey we got to go on Cruise!
I'm not sure I'll ever be a big cruising buff....I don't appreciate being raocked back in forth while trying to enjoy a meal. I also missed some subtle luxuries such as being able to walk on the beach, also missing is the flora/fauna. I guess just a few things you may take for granted on a normal vacation.
The food was super, you won't eat like that at a resort. The service was also overacheived.
Great job NCL, I don't think I could cope with a non-freestyle cruising ship.
Ports of Call were Miami, Grand Cayman, Roatan.
